A supportive community is critical to a good life for all age groups, from babies to seniors. Hamilton County DD Services believes families play a key role as guardians of the vision for the best life for their family members with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our goal is a partnership in which families direct building a good life for their loved one, and the DD system provides support and services. This includes sharing information, skill building and expanding the circle of support. We provide tools needed to visualize a meaningful life and put steps in place to build it, emphasizing activities and opportunities that already exist in the community.
We recognize “family” is a broad term and can include parents, siblings, grandparents, extended families and others. Hamilton County DD Services wants to bridge the gap between disability-based supports and natural supports in the community, based on the needs and wants of the individual and family, and to encourage long-term planning by creating a vision for life at all stages.
In addition to Hamilton County DD Services, many groups and organizations in Greater Cincinnati provide resources for families and individuals.
