Last May we began a formal process to find a provider to operate our three adult centers. That process is now complete. Beginning May 1, operation of Beckman, Franks, and Kidd adult centers will become the full responsibility of Active Day.

The draft of HCDDS' 2017 Annual Plan is now available online. Each of the 10 goals follows to fundamental beliefs: move toward integration in everything we do and build the capacity of community organizations to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Individuals enrolled in a Home and Community-Based Services waiver may choose to enroll in managed care instead of the traditional fee-for-service program, but enrollment is 100% optional.

Starting Oct. 24, music will fill the air at our Northside facility as Melodic Connections, Cincinnati’s only nonprofit music therapy organization, relocates to our building for a few months after their studio was damaged by a flood.

As promised, we want to update you on the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to have a provider operate our three adult centers. In late July, REM Ohio/Mentor Network, Person Centered Services and Active Day submitted statements.

The new MUI Reporting Hotline is active and allows staff, providers, and/or others to report an MUI through a voicemail system. There is also an option to speak with a HCDDS staff if immediate assistance is needed 24 hours a day/7 days per week.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed two important DD-related bills into law at St. Joseph Home in Sharonville. One officially removes the "R" word from the Ohio Revised Code, and the other relates to nursing and early intervention services.

At the Sept. 8 meeting, the board voted to consolidate the four adult centers operated by the agency into three. The consolidation will be complete by March 1, 2016.
